**Join Mel for a ‘Candlelight Flow Specialty Class’ on Sunday 16th September || 6pm – 7.30pm**
Challenge yourself to practice blindfolded through a gentle flow and deep stretching in a safe and nurturing environment. By withdrawing the sense of sight, we bring greater awareness to the breath and the movement of the body. As the senses withdraw, the mind awakens. Removing the sense of sight – removing this distraction, allows us to feel so much more. It takes effort to stop and slow down, to let go, to become fully present. The practice requires concentration and the ability to focus on the inner senses and the experience of the body. Sense withdrawal and relaxation are not about a blank mind, but a well-focused one. Don’t be fooled, while the flow will be gentle, the challenge is real. Pratyahara – one of the 8 limbs of yoga – is often translated as control or withdrawal of the senses. This practice of sense withdrawal can lead to profound relaxation and expanded self-awareness.
We’ll start with a candlelight meditation, a gentle flow by candlelight and when you’re ready, repeating the flow blindfolded before moving into some deep stretches.
