Treat yourself to an afternoon of self-massage!
During this 2hr workshop, you will be guided through a variety of myofascial release techniques using tennis balls and other props, focusing on the areas of your body where tension is commonly held.
Fascia is the densely woven fabric of connective tissue holding our bodies together. It wraps around every muscle, tendon, ligament, bone and organ. When we stop moving (even in sleep) fascia builds up, becoming congested. Over time this can inhibit our ability to move freely and cause pain.
During this session, you will become more aware of where you hold tension, where your “sticky” spots are, how to loosen up your body and alleviate discomfort. Myofascial release also has a calming effect on the central nervous system so you can expect to leave feeling relaxed, calm and centred for the week ahead.
This workshop is suitable for anyone wanting to move more freely and comfortably. Whether your backaches from sitting at a desk all day or your calves are tight from running marathons, this workshop is for you!
Props will be provided but if you would prefer not to use studio props due to COVID-19 concerns all you will need to bring with you is 2 tennis balls and a yoga block (or thick book).
If you like using a foam roller or have massage or trigger point balls you love to use please feel free to bring them along. Don’t worry if you don’t have any, we will have plenty for you on the day.
